CLYC Inter-Livery Regatta 2023

The CLYC Inter-Livery Regatta 2023 was a wonderful weekend in Cowes, full of excellent sailing and merriment.

On the Friday evening, crews were welcomed to the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).  A delicious buffet and much conviviality was enjoyed, the perfect setting for crew and club bonding.

On the Saturday morning, skippers were up early for the Race Briefing at the Cowes Yacht Haven with Race Officer, Peter Chugg. Entrants were split into two classes with four races planned.

Racers had perfect weather conditions and executed some excellent starts, Class 3, Race 1 the fastest, with all boats starting within 60 seconds of the gun.  Although in the second races, the tide was against competitors in the later parts of the course, it was very close. There was some real jostling for positions, particularly in the final race of Class 3 when there was only 5 seconds between Innholder II, Emily of Cowes, and Innholder III, Incisor, over the water (obviously times were corrected with handicaps applied). The Presentations were held on the roof terrace of The Globe with stunning views across the Solent for the backdrop.  Celebratory dinners were held at The Globe and The Royal London Yacht Club.  Apparently, a few nightcaps were enjoyed on board some of the yachts afterwards!

Awards were presented by Admiral, Cdre Tony Morrow CVO, and announced by Commodore, Colin Simpson.  Toast Masters for the evening were John Absalom and Daryn Hufton-Rees.
